About

Mwamvita Makamba

Mwamvita Makamba is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and one of the bold voices redefining Africa’s future through technology, innovation, and unapologetic ambition.

As Founder of MMConnect Africa, MMCarbon, Kuza Capital Finance, and Jibusti Energies, Mwamvita sits at the intersection of business, technology, and social impact—championing ventures that not only scale but shift how Africa is seen and experienced, including in spaces of luxury, wellness, and prosperity. For her, Africa’s rise isn’t just about catching up—it’s about taking space, owning narratives, and building a future that is both inclusive and abundant.

Her passion is bridging developmental gaps that assist individuals and groups to grow and achieve their goals. She is not afraid to get her hands ‘dirty’ doing meaningful work that makes an impact. She thrives on simplifying complexity and condensing large chunks of information into relatable narratives.

Works

With over 15 years of executive experience in multinational organizations across Sub-Saharan Africa, and academic credentials from the University of Dar es Salaam and The Gordon Institute of Business Science, Mwamvita bridges boardrooms and grassroots with equal ease. Her work spans sectors from health and agriculture to fintech, education, and energy—always guided by one central belief: technology, when used intentionally, can unlock Africa’s full creative, economic, and social potential.

Beyond business, Mwamvita is also the author of Things I Tell My Daughter, a personal blueprint to empower young women to lead with confidence, grace, and audacity. She has served on the Vodafone Group Foundation Board of Trustees for a decade, was named a U.S. State Department Fortune Most Powerful Women mentee, and is a recipient of multiple awards, including Tanzania Women of Achievement (2012) and Choiseul Africa’s 100 under 40 Economic Leaders of Tomorrow.

At the heart of it all, Mwamvita’s vision is clear: Africa is not waiting for permission. It is rising—and she is building businesses that reflect that future.

Intro version- Mwamvita Makamba is a builder of businesses, a shaper of futures, and a storyteller of a new African narrative.

Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, Mwamvita believes that real success happens when communities rise together. Through her companies—MMConnect Africa, MMCarbon, Kuza Capital Finance, and Jibusti Energies—she has created ventures that bring clean energy, financial inclusion, and climate solutions to markets that have long been underserved, but never short on potential.

With 15 + years of leadership experience across multinational corporations in Africa, she’s learned that technology, when applied with intention, has the power to transform not just economies, but people’s lives. Her academic journey took her from the University of Dar es Salaam to The Gordon Institute of Business Science in Pretoria, but her real education, she says, comes from leading on the ground—listening, learning, and building in real time.

In Things I Tell My Daughter, Mwamvita shares personal lessons on leadership, purpose, and grace, offering a guide for young women navigating ambition and authenticity. Her accolades are many, but at her core, she remains a deeply intentional leader building businesses that reflect her vision for an Africa that is bold, abundant, and self-defined.
